Road Safety - The Mistakes of Young Drivers

By Tim Martin Brown

It had been proven from studies that most cases of accidents happen to young drivers. These accidents could have been prevented if only teen drivers observe proper conduct and follow traffic rules while driving. Here are common mistakes done by young drivers-

Drunk Driving - Most likely accidents can happen if a driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs. These things are very common to young drivers as they try to explore the world ahead of them. After heavy parties, several teen drivers prefer to drive home drunk that may lead to some serious accidents.

Unfocused Driving - Teen drivers are easily distracted with what's inside the car and not what's on the road. Phone calls and loud music are two of the most common things that are considered distractions while driving.

Disobedience to Traffic Rules - This is always on the top list of things that young drivers commit. Neglecting traffic signs can cause serious problems in traffic. Failure to obey traffic rules may result to accidents.

Lack of Road Courtesy - Because of the eagerness to drive, several young drivers do not show road courtesy. They tend to drive their vehicles the way they want without considering other drivers and pedestrians.

Uncontrollable Tendency of Speeding - Teen drivers often find thrill through speeding vehicles. This incidents are mostly done in places where there is not much vehicle density, but can still lead to some serious problems. There are also cases when young drivers violate speed limitations of a certain zone including schools and other densely populated areas.

Lack of Driving Experience - Young drivers are less to respond on certain incidents because of their lack of the proper experience in driving. Most teen drivers learn how to drive through their own experience limiting their knowledge on how to respond to certain scenarios.

Lack of Vehicle Maintenance - Most young drivers do not regularly check their vehicles. In other cases, they do not perform routine inspection on the vehicle prior to using it. Failure to check the brake fluid, water for the radiator, and other components can result to devastating accidents.
